How beer saved my life

I was watching on the cable TV about all these kinds of humanitarian threats like earthquakes, tsunamis and bombings... It feels good to be alive and at the same time bad, for those who lost their lives to acts of God and dangerous people. That's when I remembered what happened to me last 2007.

I was working in Makati City as a receptionist in OSA Laboratory. I lived in this not-so-arrogant kind of house, an apartment to be exact. It was a small room that only accommodated one person but there was the three of us that got our asses in there like sardines. I was with my friends Jen Myr and Jane, both medical representatives. On the day of October 19, 2007, I had my day off. I got too bored just lying with my tiny butt on the bed, I thought of hopping to the mall alone, thought of going to Glorietta. It was the nearest mall to my apartment and was one of my favorite malls to walk around in, or just window-shop. I was fond of going to Glorietta 2 section of the shopping center, where the cheapest, trendy goods were to be found. At almost 12 o' clock in the afternoon when I went out to hail a cab, my friend Michelle who manned a Sari-sari store just outside my apartment paid a minute or two to share a conversation with me. She asked where I was headed to and I said, "Punta 'ko sa Glorietta, titingin ng damet. Sama ka?" ("I'm going to Glorietta to look for clothes, you like to come?") But she said no. Instead, she asked me if I wanted to drink, 4 Red Horse Beer muchos on her. Who could ever resist the temptation if you have been deprived of drinking beer and have been having the thirst for it? I used to love drinking beer especially on lonely nights. Let's cut to the chase, I agreed on drinking with her instead of going to Glorietta. As we were drinking, we were watching the TV and boom! A breaking news came off. At around 1:25 PM the Glorietta Shopping Center, particularly the Glorietta 2 Section, exploded killing 11 people and injured more than a hundred.

the massive destruction caused by the explosion

It was stated that the blast came from an LPG gas tank but authorities were yet unable to confirm the true nature of the explosion. I had goosebumps all over. Holy chissles, I could have been there and gotten injured or died maybe!

I thanked God for using my friend Michelle to try to stop me from going and of course for the beer that was the origin of it all. It's not always bad to drink beer or get drunk because of beer, I mean, if this miracle would always happen with drinking beer I would never resist doing so!

I was so sure I've been touched by an angel - maybe an angel who liked to drink beer too. :))
